Earthmoving and devegetation may now require a review/permit

Recent amendments to Ordinance 95-6 outline thresholds that will trigger either a Land Disturbance Review (previously known as a Drainage Review) or a Land Disturbance Permit. If you're getting ready to move some dirt, please contact the Building Permit Agent or the Roads Manager to see if this affects you.

Desert Stars: Using the Universe to Find Your Way Home

On June 4, Castle Valley archaeoastronomer Iza (Bambi) Steiner gave a talk about how ancient peoples used the stars and constellations to find their way home, tell time, and create calendars. The event was well attended with the room almost full. Hopefully she will repeat the program later this summer!

Spring 2024 Burn Window open till May 31, weather permitting

An open Burn Window in Castle Valley, Grand County and the State of Utah is a period of time when it is permitted to burn yard debris like tree limbs, leaves, grass, tumbleweeds and other material that is collected from yard maintenance.

Town of Castle Valley now an official Dark Sky Community

In December 2023, the Town of Castle Valley joined Grand County, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Torrey, Utah, and other nearby places in successful certification by DarkSky International.
